]]>Dirk's wonderful eye-catcher
Dear Vintaramians,
our ceramic collection is almost overflowing with wonderful midcentury gems. That's why we've launched a new category: ceramic planter pots. It's certainly a bit more clearly arranged now if you want to go hunting for something specific. There are stunning new additions to the ceramics collection as well as to the planter pots and wall clocks. Be sure to take a look straight away!
But there is one special treasure that I would like to warmly recommend to you. It is the "S 21" vase by the Swedish artist Einar Lynge-Ahlberg.
Einar Herman Fritiof Lynge-Ahlberg, born in Malmö in 1913, was primarily an artist and belonged to the "Blandningen" group of painters founded in 1938. His paintings often depicted motifs from Stockholm, but he also painted abstract pictures, still lifes and interiors. His first solo exhibition took place in Malmö in 1945.
In 1954 Lynge-Ahlberg was employed as a designer at famous Rörstrand's porcelain factory, where he worked for three years. He created unique and architectural objects in stoneware, such as tubular or three-sided vases decorated with geometric ornaments. The unique ceramic objects from this period at Rörstrand were signed "Lynge-Ahlberg". Find his "S 21" here!
Enjoy the weekend with hopefully better weather than we we are having here at the moment!
Katja + Dirk
Have a great weekend!
Best regards from rainy Germany,
Katja + Dirk
The company Domus, founded by lighting expert Henning Borm1966 in Westegermany, is since its beginning one of the pioneers in lighting design, quality and environmental protection. Thus, every single lamp is made by hand and ultimately undergoes a thorough quality control. Today renewable natural raw materials are used wherever possible. Domus dispenses with the use of varnishes in favor of vegetable oils and natural waxes. This preserves the open-pored beauty of the wood. Selected woods such as oak or walnut, exquisite fabrics and wool felt are combined with state-of-the-art lighting technology.
The Domus 2416 is a classic of midcentury lighting design and captivates with its timelessly beautiful form, the combination of fabric and teak, as well as the practical infinitely variable height adjustment via a counterweight. To the article description, we have also made a video for you, which makes the great functionality visible. So take a look right now! 💡
Have a nice rest of the week

Honestly, I was not that excited at first, when Dirk appeared with his new midcentury find. My first thought: How the heck am I supposed to photograph that!?? In our business rooms is not too much space, so my "photo studio" is pretty small. But my standards for our product photos, on the other hand, are high...🫣
We've then brought the fab piece first in the cleaning, and I have also gained some time. But finally it had to be done and I found a way.
By the way, price includes free shipping worldwide.
Have a great Friday and a relaxing weekend,
Katja & Dirk

Dear Vintaramians,
in many parts of the world, people complain about too much heat. Here in Northern Germany, we are happy when the thermometer rises above 20 degrees Celsius, and it doesn't rain for two hours.... Climate change can no longer be ignored, that's for sure.
If you are wondering what you can do to make the world a little more sustainable, here is an answer: Buy things that have been around for a while. That have had happy owners before you. In which a lot of resources, energy and craftsmanship have already gone into. Buy vintage!👍
With our big Summer Sale, we want to make this a little easier for you and reduce our treasures in August, partly up to 40%! Take a look and see if there is something for you.
If you always want to know immediately which new item goes into the sale, follow us on Instagram!
Have fun browsing & still wish you a nice summer

Hi, dear Vintaramians,

Either way, we think it's a bright idea to invite you to take a look at our Lamps & Light collection. Take a look and discover your new favorite lamp for 20% off (also on already discounted items, valid until this Sunday).
]]>Did you know, the term "bright idea" to signify a clever thought or solution originated from the invention of the light bulb by Thomas Edison, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge?
The earliest evidence of artificial lighting can be traced to ancient Egypt around 70,000 BCE, where people used simple oil lamps. Probably first without any shade. Lampshades were initially used to prevent the flame of the lamp from flickering or blowing out due to drafts. I would assume that the safety aspect also played a role, especially since the roof and furniture were made of extremely flammable, natural materials. However, they soon became decorative items, adding style and ambiance to the room.
Wishing you all a light-ful weekend,
Katja & Dirk

We offer 3 chairs in crystal clear look and 1 chair in slightly smoked acrylic. ➽Grab it fast, price & condition are pretty good!
Couldn't wait to show you these design icons! The original 'Plia' folding chair was designed in 1967 by Giancarlo Piretti for the label Anonima Castelli and is a multiple award-winning design classic. It was even included in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art MoMA in New York. The iconic design piece has a chromed tubular steel frame, the backrest and seat are made of transparent plastic. Aren't they just fabulous timeless!?
With the 'Plia' folding chair, Italian designer Giancarlo Piretti has written design history! His development of the 3-disc joint with ingenious flat folding mechanism paved the way for the transparent folding chair by Anonima Castelli to become an international cult object.
We offer 3 chairs in crystal clear look and 1 chair in slightly smoked acrylic. The color differences are marginal, so they can also be used very well together.
Hope you're having a nice start into the week,
Katja & Dirk

We have some quirky 70s items for you fresh in the shop. One of them I have to introduce to you separately, though, because it's so terrific on the one hand and so rare on the market on the other.
I'm talking about the absolutely fetching orange dressing table, designed and manufactured by Bremshey, West Germany. Whoever this name sounds familiar to is not on the wrong track! Yes exactly, this company also invented and built these wonderful folding carts 'Dinett' in the original. (Who wanna learn more: There was an exciting newsletter or blog post about these colorful design icons here before!)
But back to our vanity. This super stylish yet practical small piece of furniture is a design masterpiece of its time and still a real eye-catcher and conversation starter today! The whole box can be turned in all directions, as well as the built-in round mirror. By a mechanism on the sides can also be retracted, so that the whole box can be closed when it is not in use. And so it also makes a great side table. So not only cool, but also well-thought-out midcentury design!
Have a nice weekend,
Katja + Dirk

As we are well known for, we Germans always need things to be a bit more complicated. This is also reflected by our language, again and again. Hands up, who has ever tried to learn German?🤪
The nice English term 'jack of all trades' is paraphrased in our language with 'eierlegende Wollmilchsau'. Literally translated, this would mean 'a sow that gives milk and wool as well as lays eggs'.
Well - fortunately, pictures often say more than words😉. So be sure to take a closer look at our new 'jack of all trades'! This little drawer cabinet (originally meant as a sewing box) on wheels can be used for storage, as a shelf or even as a comfortable seat for unexpected visitors. We think it's just great!
Enjoy your weekend!
Take care,
Katja + Dirk

What this bathroom cabinet has in common with a mountain pass in Switzerland other than the name (Splügen-Pass or Passo dello Spluga), we unfortunately do not know at all. In the 1950s, beautiful things were given the beautiful names of beautiful places. Vacation abroad, enjoying sun and a new attitude to life are reflected in the name, sunny pastel colors and a modern material of this wonderful Italian midcentury design creation from Turin.
In any case, we are fans of these wonderful vintage gems that are timelessly beautiful even after 60 years now! We are happy every time we can grab one of these rare pieces for our customers. Currently we can offer the *Spluga* even in six different colors. Be sure to check it out!
Happy colorful weekend from Germany,

Ulrika (Ulla) Eleonora Matilda Procopé-Nyman was born in 1921 in Helsinki, Finland. After graduating from the Helsinki School of Art and Design, she worked in the design department of Arabia since 1948. She was awarded an honorary diploma for her 'Ruska' dinnerware at the Milan Triennale in 1957.
Its extreme durability characterizes the stoneware tableware. It is one of the fine cooking utensils designed to reduce the amount of washing up the housewife has to do. The individually burnt-out, brown speckled glaze made each piece unique and gave the impression of manual production. With 'Ruska', the combination of rustic practicality and clear form became a typical feature of Finnish ceramics of the sixties and seventies.
Today, this tableware design is more popular than ever, and we are extremely happy to be able to offer you a few more pieces from the series in our *Vintage Tableware* collection. According to our high quality standards, all are in very good vintage condition and ready to use! (➽If you are interested in more of these pieces, we will be happy to hunt them down for you! Just let us know what else you are looking for).
We wish you a wonderful weekend - maybe at a beautifully set table, with a delicious meal with friends or family!

We hope you have come well through these last days of the old year!? For some, the end of the year means a big burst of light, loud bang and crash of amazing firework. Others enjoy this time of year to pause, take a deep breath, perhaps reflect a bit or even come up with some plans for the year ahead. Which side are you on?
Since our furry roommate Paula is getting more and more afraid of loud bangs as she gets older (she's already turning 11 now), we've been trying to get through the whole thing as quietly as possible....
In any case, we are full of excitement for everything that may come now. Our gut tells us that this 2023 will be a wonderful year with interesting people to meet, new business challenges, exciting road trips, ... We're already very looking forward to it!
We wish you all a fabulous start into the New Year! May many of your wishes come true and make way for new ones.
Make room is a good keyword: We kick off this year with a 15% sale shop wide. Just use the code NEWYEAR at check-out and grab your fav pieces!

Did a little research and am surprised how different the meaning of the color red can be depending on the culture! For example, did you know that in some Asian cultures red is the color of the bride on her wedding day, symbolizing celebration, joy and (feminine) beauty? The cosmetic use of red tones in lipstick and nail polish to highlight health, youth, and attractiveness dates back to ancient Egypt. However, for some countries in Africa, red represents death or war. In Korea, the name of a deceased person is written in red. In China, on the other hand, red represents wealth and happiness. According to the teachings of Feng Shui, red has an aphrodisiac and stimulating effect.
In any case, one thing is certain and unites us all: the color of our blood.❤️
With the code "RED" you get 15% off on ceramics and tableware until the end of the year, of course also on other colors!😉
Dirk and I wish you a wonderful time (whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or just the end of the year with your family) with lots of love and warmth, friends and joy!
Peace, love and a big thank you,
Katja & Dirk
